Job Duties:

The Database Administrator is responsible for the following tasks:

 Supports Oracle, Sybase and SQL Server Databases: Assist in the day-to-day administration of all databases in production, Q&A and development. Perform daily maintenance tasks, procedures and any other database tasks that require attention. Assist in the creation of new databases, maintain existing databases. Provide support to all vendors and/or off the shelf applications which use database servers as a backend.

 Works with any third-party monitoring company to provide for extended hours support, support for maintenance tasks and other activities as identified that need remediation or review.

 Supports the release process for updates, new builds, etc. as provided by the development team.

 Troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues and any other issues affecting the database. This work can be done with 3rd party support teams and/or monitoring vendor.

 Supports the Murex and the Oracle GL applications by providing administration of the application in all environments (test, DR and production) and maintenance of technical services.

 Supports EOD scheduler (ControlM) by designing and building the sequence of EOD batches. Troubleshooting any issue with the help of the third-party monitoring company.

 Responsible for documenting day-to-day support activity in the company Help Desk system and providing regular updates to management.

 Business Recovery Testing: The DBA supports business recovery testing and will be involved in the setup and support of the Infrastructure of the DR Site.

Qualifications and required skills:

 5+ years of proven, hands-on Oracle Database Administration experience.

 Experience of managing multiple RDBMS systems.

 Experience of working in a team that delivers quality customer service.

 Practical experience in monitoring and tuning an Oracle database.

 Experience of other database systems, preferably Sybase ASE 15 and/or 16, SQL Server 2008/2014 is a strong plus.

 Oracle Certification, preferably Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).

 Knowledge of Linux or Unix operating systems is a big plus.

 He/she must have a both strong written and communication skills.
